This engraving is a long view of the Heidelberg Castle with the city of Heidelberg in the right background. The formal gardens are beautifully hand colored. Frederick de Wit (1630-1706) was greatly admired for his hand coloring of the engravings produced in his shop. The plate was produced in copper by Jacques Fouquieres in 1620, and latter aquired by de Wit, reprinted and colored circa 1660. Click "More Info" below for a more complete description.
